Help Wanted

Much have been said about the typhoons which have recently come and gone the past few days. I need not expand on the casualties and shameful causes of the disaster. Just moments ago, I was thinking of our clan back in Quezon. My long lost relatives are scattered in the vast province. I don't know them and they do not know me. But at least I know they exist.

I was soaking wet last night because of the haphazard tricycle ride that I got. Most tricycles were parked because of the weather so I had no choice but to share the backride with another passenger. And then all hell broke loose when the wind started blowing the pouring rain in our direction. Cold, wet, and helpless -- three words I could describe my situtation throughout the trip.

Anyway, this is a fine time to do some volunteer work. The thing is that I'm already engaged with covering the PWD (Persons with Disabilities) Day on Sunday. And this also conflicts with the volunteer pooling event in Intramuros. Great. I wish I could divide my body and attend to both. For the PWD, most of the volunteers will be taking care of the disabled children for a day.

However, the documentation team (which includes me) will not be assigned to any child cause we have to (you guessed it) document the event. I guess my camera is going to be put to the test again come Sunday. The thing which makes me uneasy is the shirt which we're required to wear on the event. Maybe because it's white. Who said that volunteers could not be vain?
